The Holy Family with John the Baptist and St. Anne
depicting the Virgin and Child with St. Joseph in the background, accompanied by St. Anne and the young St. John the Baptist. The richly rendered composition displays hallmarks of the Rubens workshop tradition: warm flesh tones, robust figural modeling, and dynamic, interwoven gazes among the figures. The painterly handling of drapery, atmospheric architectural setting, and the tender interaction between Christ and the infant Baptist are consistent with Flemish Baroque devotional imagery.

Condition

The piece presents fair for its age. The board is bowed with cracks/splitting to wood. Edgeware with loss, scattered inpainting, in need of additional inpainting for vertical cracks. varnish.

SHIPPING While we do not pack or ship any items, we have provided the list of shippers below as a courtesy. Please understand, you may use any shipper or third party you choose and that Nadeau’s Auction Gallery takes no responsibility for any acts or omissions of any of the vendors on this list. Buyers assume full responsibility for the packing and shipping of lots won at auction. We have provided a list of our Shippers to assist you. If a shipper does not have a valid MC you will be charged Connecticut sales tax (shipper must have a Motor Carrier number) and shipper must provide an official Bill of Lading. All shippers on our website are licensed shippers. We require written authorization from the buyer to release any property to anyone other than the buyer. When arranging for a shipper, please be aware that all items should be picked up within one week of the auction unless arrangements have been made in advance with our office.
