Studies of Figures Grinding Grain and Oxen with Cart
two sheets mounted together, depicting studies of Indian village life, the upper drawing shows two male figures seated outdoors beside a grain-grinding bowl and hookah beneath a colonnaded veranda, the lower study features oxen and a cart with a kneeling figure tending to the animals, drawn with Chinnerys precise, rhythmic line and subtle shading; executed during the artists years in India, these intimate sketches capture the daily labors and gestures of rural life with immediacy and sympathy

Condition

Top piece with some water staining. Bottom has some specks of water staining. Subtle yellowing to paper.

Buyers assume full responsibility for the packing and shipping of lots won at auction. We have provided a list of our Shippers to assist you. If a shipper does not have a valid MC you will be charged Connecticut sales tax (shipper must have a Motor Carrier number) and shipper must provide an official Bill of Lading. All shippers on our website are licensed shippers. We require written authorization from the buyer to release any property to anyone other than the buyer. When arranging for a shipper, please be aware that all items should be picked up within one week of the auction unless arrangements have been made in advance with our office.
